Because Shaken Baby Syndrome is a very serious form of physical abuse, in 1 out of 4 cases it leads to death<\/strong> and, iin those who survive, causes irreparable physical, cognitive, behavioral developmental damage.
But Shaken Baby Syndrome can be prevented and avoided<\/strong>!
It is often due to lack of information and the caregiver’s inability to handle a situation of stress and frustration.
Hence the importance of a campaign like DON’T SHAKEN IT!<\/p>\n

Since 2024, the National<\/strong> Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention<\/strong> Days have been a regular event to talk about Shaken Baby Syndrome throughout Italy.
Conceived by SIMEUP and Terre des Hommes and carried out in collaboration with the Hospital Network for the Prevention of Child Maltreatment and the support of all Campaign partners, Infopoints and awareness events are organized in squares and hospitals throughout Italy with hundreds of volunteers reaching out to the public with information, materials and demonstration activities with simulators to explain how to prevent shaking and what damage it causes.
Historic monuments light up orange, making the symbol of NONSCUOTERLO! visible even at night, ensuring a nationwide media buzz and reaching millions of people.

Milan, Florence, Palermo, Bari: the NONSCUOTERLO! campaign has entered medical universities, midwifery masters courses, and clinical psychology courses where Shaken Baby Syndrome has been addressed with specific seminars and the creation of training courses on the diagnosis and taking care of children who are victims of shaking.
Thanks to the collaboration with FIMP (Italian Federation of Pediatric Physicians), training webinars for family physicians have also been organized. More than 700 physicians participated in 2025.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

Thanks to the well-established collaboration between Terre des Hommes and the Hospital Network for the Prevention of Child Maltreatment in 2023 , we conducted the first national survey on this serious syndrome.
